The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
